The History of LaSpada’s

In 1959 John LaSpada opened a small cheese steak and hoagie shop in Parkside Delaware County PA. Its immediate success brought in the entire family for help selling the “The best damn sandwiches in town!” Family members include wife Yolanda, brother Charlie, as well as sisters and brother’s in-law Mary, Josephine, Ernie, John, Gabby and Ray.

In 1978 John and Charlie’s sons Raymond and Charlie Jr. take over the business. They continue the great family tradition of their fathers as co-owners of the now landmark LaSpada’s “The Original”.

In 1982 Charlie Laspada Jr. takes over sole possession of the business and brings longtime friend Bill Fromholzer in a partner. Together the purchase a famous hot dog stand called Chewy’s, to bring easier access to their customer base in Ridley Township. The new shop was named LaSpada’s Original Steaks & Hoagies.

In 1989 LaSpada’s “The Original” in Parkside was sold to an employee to continue the rich tradition of LaSpada’s Original. Charlie Jr. continued to run LaSpada’s Original Steaks & Hoagies in Ridley Township and brought longtime employee, Tom Morrison in as a partner by 1991.

In 2001 Charlie Jr. retired selling full ownership to Tom Morrison and his wife Debbie. After successfully running LaSpada’s Original Steaks & Hoagies in Ridley, Tom and Debbie expanded to the Glen Mills Market in 2012, they partnered with Mark Suk & Melissa Farnan to open LaSpada’s Original Steaks and Hoagies on 202.

In 2017, Tom and Deb sold their shares to employee Vincent Walsh and his wife, Chantel.  The Walsh family, along with original partners Mark & Melissa, will continue the tradition of LaSpada’s Original Steaks & Hoagies. Tom and Debbie Morrison continue the success as they still own and operate LaSpada’s Original Steaks & Hoagies in Ridley Township.

From our family to yours, we look forward to serving you!
